deugro group won first place in the category “International Internal Communication” at the INKOMETA Awards, the largest industry event for internal communication in Germany. The decision of the jury was based on the high level of acceptance of the communicated change across international and cultural borders.
The entry was submitted by Kathrin Planiczky, KP Kommunikationsberatung, who set up the initial strategy in 2020 in close collaboration with the Corporate Communication and Marketing department, deugro group, and who supported the kick-off as well as the starting phase within the first months. INKOMETA handed over awards in a total of six categories, with entries from other well-known companies such as Commerzbank, Deutsche Bahn, Swisscom, Ernst & Young, Evonik, Wintershall DEA, DPDHL Group, Rolls-Royce Power Systems and Haribo. The official ceremony took place on September 23 in Berlin to announce the final winners.
Globalization and the fast development of sophisticated IT systems bring rapid change to project logistics. To meet client requirements and provide deugro group employees with the best possible tools and skills in an increasingly digital work environment, deugro group has invested significantly in a new digitalization strategy on a global basis and embedded in a state-of-the-art IT architecture with consistently high global data quality covering all areas.
This includes new IT logistics solutions such as deugro visiotrack, an interactive collaboration platform to track and trace projects, accessible to all stakeholders involved; and CargoWise, an integrated platform that with deep integrations and powerful functionality, particularly the one-file global database and upfront data verification tool, puts productivity at the center of global logistics; as well as SAI360, deugro’s online integrated risk management and learning system. This new software not only centralizes occurrence and observation reporting, it also gives greater transparency and inclusion in QHSES matters and allows deugro group to work flawlessly across the deugro group teams.
As internal and external communication are key to a successful working culture and business, deugro group implemented HELIX at the beginning of last year, a new social and interactive intranet platform serving as a central information hub, combining Help, Education, Library, Information and Xchange to support the organization in its global business and to keep all 1,300 employees updated with relevant news and information at any time and any place worldwide.
The implementation of HELIX was accompanied by an internal communication strategy, featuring video interviews with Board members, that communicate information throughout the entire organization and efficiently spread internal news around the globe. Written reports and articles about current or upcoming topics provided by branches and specialized departments as well as employee initiatives have been published in various formats. QHSES guidelines to stay healthy as well as lots of other topics have also been shared.
Winning the INKOMETA Award in the International Internal Communications category was the logical consequence of consistently implementing the strategy and filling it with life.
“I am proud of winning the INKOMETA Award for our internal communication at deugro group—there could have been no better place or time to launch this initiative and test it than during the disruptive COVID-19 times with a huge additional demand for internal communication,” said Daniela Thomas, Communications Specialist, Corporate Communication and Marketing, deugro group.
“‘Best minds with the best tools”—that is what deugro group’s digitalization strategy is all about. The implementation of our intranet HELIX has significantly contributed to well-informed and actively involved employees—beneficial for our employees as well as our clients,” added Pamela Wilczek, Director Global Marketing, Communications and Strategy, Corporate Communication and Marketing, deugro group.
